A lot happens at Beacon Wealth Management Ltd
Current News and Events
Beacon Wealth Management Ltd, based in Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire, are the only business in the UK to be shortlisted in an award with multi-national HSBC, London city based and national firms, as one of the best ethical investment companies in the UK!
The award is for the BEST ESG ADVISER – in layman’s terms this award recognises financial advice firms that are going above and beyond in its efforts to meet their clients’ ethical/environmental, social and governance investment needs. In short, a great financial company offering ethical investment advice based on their clients needs, wants and desires.
As a company who prides themselves as being forward-thinking, with clients’ interests at the forefront of everything they do, which is backed up via their own qualifications, training and continual process evaluations, the recognition couldn’t have come at a better time.
With the world in the state it currently is, it’s very clear that many people are concerned about what it means for the future, and money worries have become central to that.
Like many companies Beacon Wealth Management have followed the guidelines from the beginning, ensuring those who could work from home did at the earliest opportunity. Inevitably they have had to furlough a few of their team, but are hoping to be back together soon. Despite this Beacon Wealth Management are still fully operational from their relative homes and the team have noticed a significant increase with interest on investment performance, and have been sending out client updates and holding client meetings via telephone and video calls.
‘We have always said we offer city-level advice but without the price tag and for us to be recognised in this award with our fellow counterparts, is an honor and helps support our message. I have loved chatting with clients over this period, not only because I have known many for years and consider them to be friends, but to also discuss what is happening, based on the current climate and their investment reports. It is lovely hearing that they understand the situation and, in many cases, want to capitalise on future investments, by investing whilst the markets are low.
Our team being recognised for this prestigious award is fantastic and testament to their hard work. We are proud to have an in-house investment team, with dedicated managers for both ethical and non-ethical funds, which means we are fully in control of all our portfolios. I am very proud of how my team are performing together whilst distanced, and can’t wait until we can all get back together.’ Commented Tony Larkins, Managing Director
Beacon Wealth Legal, situated in St Neots, St Ives, Sawtry and Kimbolton have just been announced as one of the best solicitors in the UK at the Modern Law Awards, held on Thursday 6th February.
Like many award ceremonies there were numerous categories available, and Beacon Wealth Legal were chosen for ABS of the Year. The criteria to be considered included showing successful implementation of strategic goals as demonstrated, for example by development of new practice areas, financial performance and community involvement, reflecting the size of the business.
As a proactive company within the community, last year sponsoring St Neots Armed Forces Weekend, running their own not for profit local community events such as an Easter Egg Hunt in St Ives (due to return again this year), and sponsoring local events and societies.
Beacon Wealth Legal have also recently introduced a brand-new service – Immigration, headed up by a very experienced and successful solicitor Alex Adeyemo.
Managing Director, Tony Larkins attended the prestigious evening in Manchester; “It is brilliant that our team have been recognised for their hard work and dedication. New Model Adviser Honours 2019: Issues Tony Larkins, Beacon Wealth Management with a ‘gong’.
As we start a new decade what better way to reflect, than on those that have achieved greatness in 2019. The New Model Adviser, leading financial publication, feels when it comes to knighthoods and OBE’s the financial advice profession gets overlooked.
Ahead of the Queen’s New Year’s Honours, the NMA (New Model Adviser) team has compiled a list of IFA’s (Independent Financial Advisers) who they believe should be recognised if they had the power, and awarded them a gong.
The NMA team looked at who they deem to be the greatest financial planners, and looked at the extra work they do outside of their field of excellence, they then compiled a list of eight IFA’s who they think should be honoured, and local business man Tony Larkins is one of them.
Tony Larkins, Managing Director of Beacon Wealth Group, has spent a considerable sum of money, whilst also allowing his team to support many different charities, schools and community projects, during their working day.
Tony Larkins, was awarded his gong for: services to alpacas, pubs and good causes.
“Many advisers embarked on interesting charity adventures over the years, but Tony Larkins is an IFA who has undertaken some of the more unusual pursuits to give back to his local community. In 2016 Tony and other members of his village, were concerned about developers taking over a plot of land. So, to stop any developments going ahead Tony opened an alpaca farm for Milo, Alfie and Luca.
Tony has also helped his village finance the rescue of it’s only pub, The Royal Oak, which was set to be converted into housing.” Commented New Model Adviser
Tony commented; “I’m honoured to be recognised. The local community is very important and I feel honoured to be in a position that enables us to support so many worthwhile projects and causes. The pub has held numerous events and brought the community even closer together, as well as more people to the village, whilst also offering job opportunities.”
Beacon Wealth Management Ltd investment team get pole position on their ethical portfolio against registered pears.
Saving for the future is important, and so is staying true to your values.
Beacon Wealth Management agree to this and have their own in-house investment team who work tirelessly to make their investment portfolio funds number 1.
A portfolio is a grouping of financial assets such as stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies and cash equivalents, as well as their fund counterparts, including mutual, exchange-traded and closed funds.
Ethical funds usually avoid companies that do harm to society like weapons manufacturers and tobacco companies. In the industry this is called negative screening.
portfolio funds are ranked each year on the best-performing (making the most return on investments), ranking the Best-in-class ethical fund providers. Rachel Ashdown, Beacon Wealth Management’s Ethical Investment assistant has outperformed the highest ranked registered ethical fund, giving their clients the best return on their investments.
Tony Larkins, Beacon Wealth Management, Managing Director commented; “Not many small financial advisers have their own in-house investment team, I feel as proved by our consistent performance this is a very important asset, we have outperformed our pears 2 years in 3 and continue to work hard to continue our performance although Returns are not guaranteed with any form of investing and you could get back less than you put in.”

Raising The Odds For Local Cancer Centre

Tony Larkins, Managing Director, Beacon Wealth Group commented;” Although we have lots of offices we are only a small team, I’d like to thank everyone from the team involved, it takes a lot of hard work, effort and manpower to put an event like this together. The team did fantastic and I would like to thank all the other local businesses that got involved. It’s a fantastic cause that will benefit all of us in some way, well done to all involved”.

Nicholas Carr commented; “The Level 6 Pension Transfers qualifications is a course provided by the London Institute of Banking and Finance. The aim of the course is to enhance the student’s knowledge of pensions, including Defined Benefit (Final Salary) pension schemes, or some of the more unusual or historic schemes we may not run into every day, and also to improve understanding on the considerations to be made when giving advice on different pension schemes.
It was the most challenging qualification I’ve taken yet, and it took plenty of study time to understand the entire syllabus. It’s almost immediately paid dividends, however, as I’ve already been able to apply some of this new knowledge in my role as a Paraplanner. I was also pleased to pass as it’s the first of four qualifications I’m looking to pass in order to become a Chartered Financial Services Professional.”
Micah has over twenty years wealth of experience in the Financial Services, five of them in the United Kingdom.
Micah obtained Diploma for Financial Advisers (DipFA) and Certificate for Mortgage advice and Practice (CeMAP) with London Institute of Banking and Finance in 2016. In January 2019 he recently passed Pension Transfer Course and joined Beacon Wealth Management.

After working for a pensions company, I felt that I would like to see what it was like from a different perspective working for an Independent Financial Adviser and especially as I want to become a paraplanner.
Since joining Beacon Wealth Management Ltd I have passed the first Paraplanner exam and I am continuing to study, Beacon Wealth Management Ltd are very supportive with my study and exam progress to become a paraplanner and helping me expand my knowledge. Fishers Yard in St Neots Town Centre, has been saved by local businessman Tony Larkins after it was discovered it was potentially going to be sold to a developer to convert into residential properties, like the other courtyards leading from the Market Square.
Tony Larkins, business owner of Beacon Wealth Legal Ltd, formerly known as Jeffrey Mills Solicitors, discovered that their St Neots office was going up for sale after speaking with the owner, and was keen to know more. Upon investigation he soon discovered that the potential buyer was a developer with plans to convert the shops into residential properties. The current owner didn’t want this to happen which is why he contacted Tony, to see if he would be interested in buying the building he rented, along with the rest of his side of Fishers Yard.
‘It was lovely to be approached to buy our building, however, when the owner explained the plans for the rest of the building my intrigue grew. I certainly have no need for that many buildings but as a local resident myself I also didn’t want to see our town get any smaller, with the amount of shops available, nor did I want to see those businesses who are well established there, have to worry about moving and finding somewhere else to effectively start again, regarding word of mouth of location etc. As far as the general public are concerned nothing has changed and that is how I feel it should be.’ Commented Tony Larkins.
Jeffrey Mills Solicitors, and Winters Legal in St Ives, have joined forces to become Beacon Wealth Legal Ltd, following the acquisition of Winters Legal in September.
Never one to stand still, the Beacon family has grown yet again. This time taking on another 10 team members during their latest acquisition of Winters Legal in St Ives.
With the latest addition it was the perfect time for Jeffrey Mills Solicitors to change their name to Beacon Wealth Legal Ltd – something that was in the pipeline, due to them already being on legal boards as this name, since they were first acquired three years ago in 2015.
The formerly known Jeffery Mills Solicitors, St Ives office has now also moved into what was Winters Legal office. ‘The building is a lot larger, and more centrally located to the town centre, with disabled access and a meeting room on the ground floor, it is perfect for anyone to be able to just drop by and ask legal questions they may have, which is a great addition to be able to offer to our local community.’ commented Tony Larkins, Group Managing Director.
Tony and Karen Larkins, owners of Beacon Wealth Group were amongst the great and the good gathered in the Barking Hall London, to celebrate their inclusion within various government reports.
Beacon Wealth Management Ltd had been approached by RT Hon Lord Pickles to assist in the parliamentary review by the Department for Work and Pensions, due to their high standing within the profession. Spectators included George Osbourne and Ed Balls.
Tony Larkins, Beacon Wealth Group, Managing Director, commented; “It was an honour to have been asked, and to attend an event with so many captains of industry.”
